Toad Alert!!

A special "bark out" to all of my dogie pals at Pelican Sound!  Please stay out of the shrubs and bushes!!



The other night we were out for a walk and Mom heard a rustling in the shrubs near our garage.  She took a peek and noted a HUGH brown toad/frog!  It was about 6" long and nasty looking!  Upon doing a little more research, she identified it as one of the poisonous frogs that are VERY bad for us doggies and can actually be detrimental to our lives.  They are called Cane Toads and secrete a highly-toxic salve-like substance that can kill a dog...YIKES!

Be alert and stay safe!!

Hello Neighbors!

I have been thinking of everyone and have intentionally not done any newsletters as I was giving everyone a little time to get back together after Irma.  Well, today I got a call from a past client asking about real estate and I took that as a sign that it was time to say hello!

  
After Irma...What is Next?
 
The good news is Irma is now gone and Pelican Sound was very lucky to escape in fairly good shape.  Jim Whitemore and his staff have been communicating with everyone on a regular basis and working as hard as they can.  We are all fortunate to have him with us!  So many other communities were without power for a very long time and their damage was much more extensive than what we endured.  And...we did not incur a storm surge!!  

We are very lucky and many communities cannot say the same!  Can you believe that part of the golf course was opened 5 days after the storm?  Unbelievable!!  Also, the tennis courts were playable during the first week after Irma.  The fitness center didn't skip a beat and of course there is the River Club!  The Friday after Irma there was food and music and yes, people were dancing away!!  The debris is being removed every day and we are looking pretty good!

The bad news is that there is some damage in various ways in Pelican Sound.  Many of the single family pool cages have collapsed and will have to be replaced.  The Masters alone had 18 cages alone that were destroyed.  Turnberry I had some condos that experienced water damage that got into the building through the roof vents and now sheet rock and flooring is being removed and will be replaced after it has dried out.  It also goes without say that a lot of the vegetation has had nature's "pruning".  However, it could have been a lot worse and again, we were all very lucky!

As they say, the show must go on and we are all striving to get our lives back to normal and it is truly happening!  I have intentionally been hold back, but feel that now is the time to move forward as I have been asked my others, what about the real estate market?  Can you believe that last week two properties went under contract?  One was a second floor coach home in Southern Hills and the other was a condo in Hammock Greens.  That is a very good indication that people are still buying and wanting to enjoy Florida.  

Traditionally, the Fall Season is a very good time for real estate in Pelican Sound.  My thoughts are that inventory may rise and the pricing may be just a little softer.  But properties in Pelican Sound should continue to be desirable!
