Woohoo - spring has arrived - I think... hard to tell the weather is all over the place. Much like myself at the moment. I am usually pretty organized, on top of everything, but lately it seems like pure chaos! Mostly because I am a creature of routine and that routine has been turned upside down with my husband's health issues and trips to the hospital - but finally there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, things are starting to return to normal -- thankfully! Now to catch up! So this week's info is kind of fitting and I need to take my own advice to get back on track!
When the Waters Get Choppy
This week reminded me just how easy it is to feel like you’re drifting when things get chaotic. Between launching a new website (yay!), juggling client work, and dealing with a situation where a client didn’t read key emails, then panicked when something wasn’t “right” (spoiler: it was right all along), I felt like I was steering through rough waters.
It got me thinking—how often do we do this in our own marketing? When things feel turbulent—volatile markets, economic uncertainty, or even just internal overwhelm—many businesses stop steering. They drop marketing plans, go silent on social media, pause email campaigns, or resort to throwing together last-minute tactics that don’t move the needle.
Operators Drift, Strategists Navigate
The businesses that stay steady? They don’t stop marketing. They adjust with purpose. In volatile times, operators drift—they let the current take them. Strategists navigate—they keep sight of their long-term goals and make smart, informed decisions, even in the storm.
The same applies to your marketing. If you stay consistent, stick to your core messaging, and keep showing up for your audience, you’ll build trust when others fade into the background.
Want to Stop Drifting?
If your marketing feels reactive, scattered, or non-existent when things get overwhelming, it’s time to realign. Whether that’s refining your marketing strategy, creating a stronger content calendar, or simply understanding how to position your business when times get tough—don’t let yourself drift.
Or give me a call—I’m always here to help you stay on course.

A Marketing Strategy Self-Review Checklist
✅ 1. Do I have clear marketing goals?
Are your goals measurable and aligned with your broader business objectives (e.g., increase leads, grow brand awareness, boost customer retention)?
✅ 2. Is my target audience clearly defined?
Do you have up-to-date buyer personas or client avatars that reflect who you are trying to reach?
✅ 3. Is my messaging consistent?
Across social media, email, website, and ads—does your messaging clearly communicate your value and resonate with your ideal customers?
✅ 4. Am I using the right channels?
Are you focusing on where your audience actually spends time, rather than where you think you “should” be?
✅ 5. Do I have a content plan in place?
Is your content strategy organized (social posts, blogs, email campaigns), or are you creating reactively with no clear calendar or purpose?
✅ 6. Am I reviewing results regularly?
Do you track your KPIs (open rates, engagement, conversions) and adjust based on real data—not gut feeling?
✅ 7. Are there gaps in my customer journey?
Is your marketing helping customers through every step—from awareness to consideration to purchase and beyond?
✅ 8. Do I have marketing automation in place?
Are you saving time and improving follow-up with tools like email automations, CRM workflows, or social scheduling?
✅ 9. Am I prepared to pivot if needed?
Do you have backup strategies or alternative campaigns if market conditions shift?
✅ 10. Do I have external support or feedback?
Are you getting outside insights, whether from a mentor, peer group, or consultant, to avoid blind spots?
✔Tip: Try reviewing this checklist quarterly to keep your marketing strategy sharp and agile.
