the 6th Markian Ochrymowych Humanitarian Award
established in 2010 to honor individuals making a lasting impact on our community.
This year, we are proud to recognize Halyna Kvitka Kondracki
for her dedication to preserving Ukrainian choral song
—a vital part of our cultural identity.
As Taras Shevchenko wrote, “Наша дума, наша пісня не вмре, не загине…”
(“Our epic, our song will not die, will not perish…”).
These words remain as powerful today as when they were first written,
with the fierce fight for Ukrainian identity continuing on the battlefield.
All proceeds from this fundraising event will support the crucial work of
Ukrainian Canadian Social Services Toronto (UCSST) in assisting newcomers—
mainly mothers and children—who have fled the war in Ukraine.
As a front-line settlement agency, UCSST has helped nearly 5,000 clients
find emergency housing, jobs, medical care, government services,
and financial aid over the past two years.
UCSST is who people turn to when there is nowhere else.
We would be honored to have you join us for this meaningful evening.
