MARKLEY MINUTES
March 2014

It goes without saying that this has been a long winter, but spring is technically here and we couldn't be more ready! With the spring season, we all feel a need to clean and refresh - let us know how we can help to reorganize your data and networking needs at our 920,000 square foot facility in downtown Boston. For those looking to freshen up their bandwidth and connectivity capabilities, we recently added a new, additional cross connect room on the fifth floor of One Summer Street to improve redundancy for customers. If you are interested in  fully diverse connectivity from our 80+ carriers within the building, we can discuss how to get involved and purchase unlimited bandwidth at wholesale costs and also connect directly to Markley Group's Infrastructure as a Service offering, "Markley Cloud Services."  Learn more by contacting [email protected] and get a tour of the room here.

Company News

We have a lot to look forward to this spring -

In April, our very own Chris McLean, director of design for Markley Group, will be speaking at the AFCOM Data Center World Spring 2014 conference in Las Vegas on the data center management track. Data Center World is billed as a premier international conference for data center and facilities managers and is unique in that its 3,500 AFCOM members create an end-user driven program that focuses on providing real solutions for today's data center and facilities managers. We are excited to network and learn from these smart folks!

In May, we will be sponsoring at the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium in Cambridge, MA. The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium truly is one of the nation's premier CIO events, bringing together information technology executives from around the world and leading faculty from MIT. We are always proud and excited to be a part of the annual event which includes a day of interactive learning and thought-provoking discourse on the future of technology, best practices, and business in the form of presentations, panels, networking and a closing reception.

Please let us know if you will be at these shows and would like to meet up with our team. See you there!

March Happenings

We are looking forward to our next Meet @ Markley on March 27 - focusing on the role of the network in building the 21st Century Platform and the trends driving multi-tenant data centers and cloud infrastructure services.  A team from Ciena, the networking specialists with expertise in optical, Ethernet, and network automation, will be discussing how applications (customers) will drive their behavior through programmatic interfaces (APIs) into the virtual network:  with policy control (the control layer); to make the underlying infrastructure more agile and responsive (virtual); and with workloads orchestrated through Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization.

We thought this was an important topic because  IT's impact is often limited to spending most of their time in a caretaker role of legacy applications instead of providing a fast response to new things, and the consumer "app" expectation is only making it harder for IT to deliver to expectations on mission critical business applications. This session hopes to help attendees re-think their architecture - to create a virtualized, performance-on-demand ecosystem for not only compute and store, but now also the network. Join us for free lunch and to learn more about Ciena's approach to open networking that delivers scale, programmability and application awareness - register with Sarah Rocap at [email protected]
