Standing Against Surrogancy – In support of Pope Francis's strong criticism of surrogacy, Bishop Barron issued a statement as chairman of the USCCB's Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth.
Biden Administration – After the Department of Health and Human Services proposed a rule that would require state child welfare agencies to screen foster parents for LGBT-related views, 17 states objected that the rule would be unconstitutional.
Courts – An Indiana couple petitioned the Supreme Court after the state's Department of Child Services removed their female-identifying son from their home due to their beliefs about human sexuality.
States – A California law went into effect, which requires retailers to devote space to a "gender neutral" section if they sell toys or childcare products. A federal judge temporarily blocked Idaho's ban on GAC for minors from taking effect. Another federal judge blocked an Iowa law that banned sexually explicit books from public schools. New Hampshire's House of Representatives advanced a bill prohibiting genital "gender reassignment" surgery for minors, but still allowing other forms of GAC. The Ohio legislature passed a bill banning GAC for minors and protecting women's sports, which was then vetoed by the governor, which was in turn overridden by the House of Representatives, allowing the bill to become law.
Sports – In contrast to the rulings made by several other athletic governing bodies, USA Boxing issued a policy allowing female-identifying men to compete with women.
Education – After criticism from students and Bishop Kevin Rhoades, St. Mary's College reversed its announced policy of admitting female-identifying men to its all-female student population, but will hold listening sessions with students in January.
International – The World Health Organization announced the development of guidelines promoting gender ideology, including the provision of GAC.
