Get ready, Statesmen families — our monthly PTSA Community Meeting is happening this Wednesday at 7:30 PM on Zoom. This is a great opportunity to stay informed about what's happening at Marshall and within the PTSA, hear important updates, and stay connected with our school community.

The Zoom link will be emailed on Wednesday morning.

WIN 2 TICKETS TO THE HOTTEST SEATS ON ICE!

Capitals Bench-Side Raffle:

A Holiday Gift That Hits the Ice Perfectly!

Thanks to an incredibly generous donor, we’re thrilled to announce a major raffle: two premium seats just 10 rows behind the Capitals bench as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 7:00 PM.

These seats—Section 100, Seats 1 & 2—are valued at over $1000 and come with bragging rights you can’t put a price on. And yes… You might just witness Ovechkin add another record to his collection. No pressure, Alex.

You can receive the tickets either as a hard copy or via electronic transfer; the Marshall PTSA will help make sure they get to you smoothly.

Mark your calendars: Mr. Litz will draw the winning ticket from a hat on Wednesday, December 10th.

This is an epic holiday gift waiting to happen—and every dollar raised goes directly to support the Class of 2026 All Night Grad Party.

Good luck—and Go Caps! 🏒

Elizabeth Toledo– Librarian

What do you enjoy most about your job? I'm a librarian and love the combination of supporting a program and teaching research skills. I love that I get to see and know so many students, not just ones who like to read or have specific classes. Almost every student comes to the library! Over the first quarter, 1,547 unique students signed in to the library, that's close to 60%

.

If you weren’t in education, what would you be doing instead? Before being in education, I worked as a manufacturing engineer and a supply chain manager. If I hadn't changed careers, I'd probably still be doing that -- I loved working in factories and making things. But moving to the DMV area meant fewer options for that career, and it turned out that being a high school librarian is a dream job, so I'm sticking to it.

What advice would you give to students about making the most of high school? I hope that students take advantage of the different clubs and courses available to them in high school to explore their interests and meet people that they might otherwise not get a chance to know. And when things are difficult, find the people who can help them, and take deep breaths more often. Sometimes the things we most worry about are the ones we won't remember in two months' time -- take the long view.

If you could give one piece of advice to Marshall's parents, what would it be? I would say to parents that the relationship you want with your children after they leave the house, whether for college or work, whether near or far away, is the relationship you're building now. Don't focus on just grades or curfews -- also take the long view and lay the groundwork now for what you'd like to have later.

Generosity Guild Book Drive

Generosity Guild is a student-led 501(c)(3) global nonprofit that empowers youth to make a difference through kindness, service, and community action. We organize seasonal drives, collecting essentials like hygiene kits, food, clothing, and school supplies for those in need, and partner with schools, businesses, and organizations to maximize impact. Right now, we're collecting gently used books for Title 1 schools across FCPS: schools with many students from low-income families. Every book donated helps give a child the chance to explore, imagine, and learn. It would mean a lot if you could support the drive by donating books you no longer need.

Together, we can share the joy of reading and make a real difference in our community!'
