Lets Connect
Lets Connect networking event gives your business a chance to show off a one minute verbal commercial while learning about other local businesses. Our next let's connect will be held in August!
As the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases increases in our area, local businesses will likely have an employee test positive. Please have a plan in place for when/if this happens. In many cases, because the Stay Safe Mn. Executive Orders are in place, businesses are ensuring their employees and their customers are practicing social distancing, washing their hands/using hand sanitizer, using masks, and increasing their disinfecting procedures, it is unlikely business operations will need to be adjusted.

Prior to responding by sending out a mass communication (letter, email, or social media), please consider data privacy laws and the impact of your words. You may even want to consult your attorney. In many cases, the contact your employees have with their co-workers and your customers is low risk right now (because of the current Executive Orders). The Minnesota Department of Health considers a close contact of someone who has tested positive as someone you have been within 6 feet of for more than 15 minutes. If you have questions or you would like more information, you can go to:

Marshall, MN – June 16, 2020
The City of Marshall is planning to open the Marshall Aquatic Center (MAC) for the Summer 2020
season during the upcoming Father’s Day weekend. An exact date and time are yet to be determined.
Additional updates will follow later this week.

These guidelines have been developed to ensure the safety of both MAC visitors and staff. Please
review these guidelines with your family in advance of the MAC welcoming you to the facility. We
appreciate the patience our community has displayed during these unprecedented times. Despite some
necessary changes from any previous summer at the pool, adherence to these touch-free guidelines by
all attendees, assists us in providing the safest experience possible.

•   Daily hours of operation will be Monday through Sunday (NOON – 5:45pm).
•   Daily access is scheduled for three (3) Open Swim sessions:
(NOON – 1:45, 2:00 – 3:45 & 4:00 – 5:45).
•   Cleaning and Disinfecting the MAC will be completed prior to opening daily and in-between
each session based on Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)
guidelines.
•   Maximum number of attendees is capped at 160 per session.
•   A separate entrance and exit will be designated.
•   NO Locker Rooms will be available for use. Attendees are asked to come dressed/swim ready.
•   Restrooms will only be available from inside the MAC pool deck.
•   BOTH the Playground & Concessions area will be closed for the season.
•   NO access to public drinking fountains – personal water bottles are encouraged and permitted.
•   Attendees are encouraged to maintain proper 6-feet social distancing in both the pool and
deck areas. Chairs and loungers are available while being physically distanced.
•   The Main & Kiddie Pools will be divided into zones. Attendees will be assigned a designated
swim zone upon arrival.
•   The Water Slide and Mushroom within the Kiddie Pool will be unavailable for usage pending
further notice.
•   Toys, balls, floats, life jackets, etc., will not be permitted in the MAC pending further
notice (this includes personally owned toys and MAC lifejackets/toys).
•   Unfortunately, NO Swimming Lessons are planned at this time.
•   During inclement weather and/or when the temperature drops below 65 degrees, the MAC closes.
•   Pricing levels and purchasing information for MAC WristBANDS will be released to the public
on Wednesday evening, June 17th.

HIGHWAY 23 COALITION 2020 UPDATE

The Highway 23 Coalition has made several key decisions. Recently, the Board of Directors for the
Highway 23 Coalition decided it would extend existing 2020 Coalition memberships through December
31, 2021. Businesses, units of government and other members would not incur a membership fee for
2021. If they have paid for 2020, they would still be a member in good standing through 2021. Donna
Boonstra, Chair of the Highway 23 Coalition, stated “In light of the impacts of the COVID-19
pandemic and related closures, the Coalition felt it was prudent to offer an extended membership to
all members. The Coalition continues to be financially stable.”

Work on Highway 23 projects continues to move forward. On May 15th MnDOT District 3 opened new
access ramps at the Interstate 94/Highway 23 Interchange in Waite Park. In 2019, the Coalition
voiced its support for an improved interchange and subsequently MnDOT moved up this safety
enhancement project by a year. Similarly, design work and right-of-way activities continue for both
the North and South Gaps between Willmar and St. Cloud.

The Highway 23 Coalition reaffirms its 2020 legislative priorities for infrastructure improvements
along the Highway 23 Corridor:
•   Undertaking of a four-lane feasibility study that would encompass Highway 23 from Foley to Milaca.
•   Construction of a CSAH 55 Overpass that would connect to the new Interchange at Highway 23
and County Road 5 near Willmar.
•   Construction of a J-Turn in the City of Waite Park at the intersection of Bel Clare Drive and Highway 23.
•   Construction of a four-lane extension of Highway 23 from the City of Marshall to the City of Green Valley.

As the Minnesota legislature convenes in Special Session, the Coalition’s Board of Directors and
its Legislative Committee have been in communication with state legislators urging funding for
transportation and, in particular, the passage of a bonding bill that provides funding for critical
projects throughout the state.
Finally, the Highway 23 Coalition members continue to reach out to federal representatives. The
Coalition plans to visit Washington, D.C. this September provided they can meet with legislators
and congressional staff in
person. For more information about the Coalition, visit www.highway23coalition.
