UNIFORM ATTIRE REMINDER

For all football games and marching competitions, students should wear their band

t-shirt, black close-fitting shorts or leggings, and mid-calf or higher BLACK socks.

If you missed marching shoe pickup last week, please see Ms. Hogan in the dressing room on Tuesday before practice to pick up your shoes. We are hoping that performance tops will arrive before the game, so pleas be on the lookout for a separate email about when those will be handed out to students. Thank you!

GET READY FOR MARINE CORPS INVITATIONAL!

Our first competition event is... on the horizon!

Sign up below to VOLUNTEER to assist with the Marine Corps Invitational
at GCM or at the competition venue on October 3, 2026.

Mr. Vesilind will provide a detailed timeline of the days’ events the week of the competition—which will include rehearsal call time at Marshall HS for performers, truck loading time, bus loading time, final performance time (currently listed on the competition program as 6:18 PM), and approximate return time to Marshall HS.

Students will meet at GCM, rehearse, load trucks and buses, travel to Annapolis, rehearse in warm-up location, perform on the field, return to trucks/buses to store instruments and uniforms, then gather in stands to watch the performances of the remaining bands. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony at 8:30 PM.
After awards ceremony, students will load buses and return to Marshall HS.

Families: This is a fabulous event showcasing a variety of bands from up and down the east coast! Spectators are invited and encouraged to attend the competition to cheer on the Marching Statesmen Band & Colorguard! You can meet us at the stadium in Annapolis or you can meet up at GCM at departure time and follow the buses!

For more information about the event from the organizers (including ticket purchase, parking fees, and clear-bag policy), please visit the US BANDS: MARINE CORPS INVITATIONAL webpage.
