What’s one fun fact students might not know about you? A fun fact about me is I have been working as a professional performer for 10 years at local theme parks. I also love to walk on stilts and pretend I'm taller than I actually am!
What do you enjoy most about your job? I really enjoy making connections with my students and helping them work towards achieving their goals. I love providing a safe space for students to come and talk to me about anything going on in their lives.
What is your favorite way to spend a Saturday? My favorite way to spend a Saturday is by sleeping in and then finding some local event to attend with my boyfriend and 2 dogs! (Preferably an event that involves food.)
What’s one thing you hope students take away from your class or role? One thing I hope students take away from my class is that they can do anything they put their mind to. When they leave high school I want them to enter their new stage in life with the confidence that they can be anything and that they have the strength and determination to keep trying. Just know I will always be proud of you for trying and will continue to support you through all the incredible things life has stored for you.
What do you wish more parents understood about today’s high school experience? In today's society with increasing use of social media and artificial intelligence students are often comparing themselves to others. This can affect their confidence, stress levels, focus, and motivation. There is so much pressure to be a certain way from peers and from what students see online. I think it's imperative for parents and teachers to work together to help remind their students that they are enough and the only person they should be comparing themselves to is who they were yesterday.
What would you like the Marshall Community to know about you? It means so much to me as a second year teacher to be nominated as a Statesmen Standout! I really enjoy being a part of the community at this school and I'm so grateful for all of those who have helped me along the way.
