 The PTSA presented awards for Teacher of the Year and Staff Member of the Year on an end-of-year staff phone call. Nominations were submitted by students, parents, and fellow teachers and staff. We are proud to announce this year's winners:
Teacher of the Year:
TIM KANE (Social Studies)
"Mr. Kane is more than deserving of the honor for his career-long service to FCPS and GCM. I can't really name another teacher whom students hold in higher regard than Tim. To many Statesmen, being a student in his class is part of the Marshall experience. His knowledge of social studies, Theory of Knowledge, and every other course he's taught over the years demonstrate his wisdom, but it's his humor and heart that deserve the most praise." Congratulations on your retirement, Mr. Kane. We will miss you!
Staff Member of the Year:
LUIS SOSA (Systems of Support Advisor)
"Luis has been unfailing in his support of the Marshall Market. This market exists to help the students most in need and he has tirelessly helped us. At times it has been over and above his regular job. For example, he distributed gift cards to families or arranged for pick up during this period of time that school has been closed. He has consistently been positive, flexible, forward thinking and kind. He is outstanding!" Thank you, Luis!

What a year it was! Congratulations to our graduating class of 2020 - we wish you all the best in your future endeavors and hope you'll come back to visit us next year. Thank you to everyone who joined, volunteered, chaired a committee, and just paid their dues to our GCM PTSA this year. Of all that we accomplished this year, we are most proud of the support we gave to the Marshall Market when the Covid crisis hit. Thanks to your generous donations, we provided nearly $5000 in grocery gift cards to our Marshall families in need. Despite the unique challenges we faced, our Marshall community remained strong! We wish you a healthy and safe summer and look forward to seeing you in August!
