Marshall High School's Statesmen Theatre presents "CALLED OUT", an original online fully-improvised comedy conceived entirely for the Zoomiverse. "Called Out" is an original comedy about a company that sells products (chosen every night by audience suggestion) via telemarketers.  As the play begins, a boss calls in the three employees at the bottom of the sales list with an ultimatum: whoever makes the most sales in the next hour keeps their job; the other two are fired. And so begins a round of urgent and hilarious sales calls with various oddball customers to see who will keep their job at Made-Up Company, Inc.  All of the characters and situations are improvised on a nightly basis so no show is ever the same. Who needs laughs right now?  Our callers are on the line to serve YOU!

Why It Matters
  • Girls comprise 46% of Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus test-takers, but only 19% of AP Computer Science test-takers.
  • Women hold 56% of all professional jobs in the U.S. workforce, but only 25% of IT jobs.
  • In 2009, just 18% of undergraduate Computing and Information Sciences degrees were awarded to women; in 1985, women earned 37% of these degrees.
  • Tech companies with more women on their management teams have a 34% higher return on investment; the presence of women on technical teams increases teams' collective intelligence, problem-solving ability, and creativity.
  •
The event includes keynote speaker Renu Bhatia, VP NVIDIA, one of the top 100 Women of Influence and VP of Business Development & Sales.
