ISSUE 1
CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

Greetings and a very warm welcome to you, my Marshall Partners (MP) family. I'm pleased and excited to welcome you to the first Marshall SCene communication! It is my hope that through this newsletter, our Marshall Partners community will find an additional way to get to know fellow MP members.

Great Trojans have always been at the heart of our Marshall society as alumni, parents, faculty and friends. Through The Marshall SCene, we will introduce you to many of these Trojans and the history of Marshall Partners as well as Trojans that are helping to pave the road of our future as the premier giving society for the Marshall School for Business and the Leventhal School of Accounting.

As you know, as Marshall Partners, we are very proud of our dynamic and exclusive events. The Marshall SCene will help keep you informed of upcoming events as well as celebrate recent events within our community.

I am proud to have the honor of being the Chairman of Marshall Partners and only hope to help carry the traditions many Marshall Partners helped create before me. To that extent, I welcome your feedback as we look to the future of our program and continuing on-going traditions and perhaps even introducing some new ideas along the way.

I would like to thank Samia Morgan, Don Yahn, Alex Blecksmith, Ron Wangerin, Jim Taylor, Mike McKeever and Greg Barnes for all of their ideas and suggestions about the newsletter. Finally, a special thank you to Guille Molina, Senior Director of the Marshall Fund and Alumni Affairs for all of her help and dedication in helping start this communication.

EXCLUSIVE ACCESS, FAMILY TIES

USC Marshall Partners is a giving society that raises funds for the USC Marshall School of Business and USC Leventhal School of Accounting.  Thank you for being a part of this extraordinary network. In addition to giving back to the school, many of our members enjoy networking with other alumni, parents and students at events hosted by our MP regions in California. Our fall season has already been full of exciting activities and MP members have had fun opportunities to connect with each other at a variety of exclusive events.  Here are some highlights of what you and other members have been up to this year:

Greater Los Angeles Region  - MP members and guests recently gained special access to the exclusive USC Associates Picnic before the USC vs. University of Texas football game on September 16th.  Earlier this summer, the region hosted a table at the annual Trojan Fest in Rancho Palos Verdes and also enjoyed an evening with Destination Luxury at The District by Hannah An in Beverly Hills.

MAKE AN IMPACT, CHANGE LIVES

"Because of generous donors like you, I was able to secure a scholarship and be a part of the second cohort of the World Bachelor in Business (WBB) program. Over the last three years, I have studied in three world-class universities (USC, HKUST and Bocconi) and worked in the U . S . , Hong Kong, Italy, and Dubai. From a small town in Washington state to traveling and working around the world, I have learned more than I could have imagined in such a short time. I am thankful to the Trojan Family for the financial support to allow me to pursue my career goals!"

WHY I JOINED MARSHALL PARTNERS

"I chose to join Marshall Partners because I want to be as close to the University as possible after graduation. I think the Trojan family is something very special and unique, and there's nothing better than having the opportunity togive back to Marshall and connect with fellow Trojans."
- Lauren Katzen, BS '13
First -generation Trojan and new Marshall Partners member

"It is simple. I would like to give back to an institution that has done so much for me and my family. USC is our entertainment on Saturdays, it has provided us with relationships I have not had since leaving the Marine Corps and my career is flourishing as a result of the skills I learned at USC Marshall.  Attending the Masters of Business for Veteran's Program has been one of the best decisions I have made, both personally and professionally.  I am extremely proud and grateful to be part of the Trojan Family and I encourage everyone I meet that is affiliated with USC to get involved with Marshall Partners."

- Nick Smith, MBV '17
Nick serves on the boards of Veterans Park Conservancy and the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Veterans Legal Services Project. He is a member of San Gabriel Country Club, Jonathan Club and the Marine Memorial Club and Hotel in San Francisco. He is also a board member in the MP Valleys Region.
