A letter from the president and CEO of The Marshall University Foundation

Dear Marshall Alumni and Friends,

It has been a busy couple of weeks on the Marshall campus, and I hope you have been able to spend some time with us during all the wonderful events and activities taking place.

On Sept. 25, we joined West Virginia University at the Universities United event in Washington, D.C. Together we hosted a Congressional Celebration and recognized Sen. Joe Manchin for his years of service to our state. More than 100 Marshall University alumni joined us, including many of the Marshall University Alumni Greater Annapolis Area Chapter members.

Last week, we celebrated an incredible Homecoming. The Marshall University Alumni Association Board of Directors held its fall meeting, spending time with staff discussing how to engage alumni all over the country and continue to find meaningful ways to support our students. Staci and I and the kids took in our first ever Homecoming parade and bonfire, which was watched online by more than 33,000 viewers! Later that evening, we joined President Brad D. Smith and First Lady Alys Smith at the Marshall University Black Alumni Hall of Fame dinner, where we inducted five amazing alumni for their contributions to Marshall. Saturday was a perfect day for a football game as we hosted hundreds of alumni and their families at the MUAA Alumni and Family Tailgate. And the weekend was capped off in spectacular fashion with football's resounding 52-37 win over Appy State. Thank you to everyone who joined us in the festivities, and for your love of Marshall.

Next week, we will welcome the Marshall University Foundation Board of Directors for its fall meeting, and look forward to a productive couple of days focused on raising private funds to support our students and faculty. And on Friday, Oct. 18, we will honor outgoing Foundation CEO Dr. Ron Area as he retires after a distinguished 17 years of service to Marshall and the Foundation. Ron and his wife Beth have been a pillar of the Huntington and Marshall communities and we are forever grateful for their unwavering support and dedication.

If I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to email me at karagosian@marshall.edu. Thank you for all you do in support of Marshall. And Go Herd!

Nico
