GREETINGS               October 15th, 2015

Greetings All!

I trust that you are all enjoying turkey sandwiches and turkey soup....

We have a great deal for which we should be thankful.

Many of you have been asking about Maryella. I phoned her yesterday and asked how she is doing. She told me to tell you that she is doing fine. That is all the news that I have on that front but when I have more and Maryella's permission, I will let you know.

I hope that many of you are engaged with the Psalms. I would like to remind you that there are cards upon which you can write questions, insights, favorite verses, verses that speak to you and offer those to God as part of your weekly offering. In addition, Judy and I have been posting on the Marshall Facebook page what strikes us as we read the Psalms.

Here are some of the responses that were placed on the offering plate:

Psalm 30 - healing. I was healed from the pain in my back.

There are people that think they can live life without God. We must have God in our lives.

Psalm 9:10 "...for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."

Psalm 2 reminds me of Handel's Messiah.

Psalm 5: 1- 3 and 11-12 are very comforting verses.

The first ten psalms are very similar- be good and God will love you.

Thank you for those offerings! Please keep them coming. This is a great discipline for all of us and I love to think that we are reading our Bibles with a purpose!!!

Several weeks ago I asked people about their willingness to participate in worship .Usually  in August, I prepare a roster so that people know when they are reading.... The response to that email was for some people to let me know that they no longer wanted to participate or not as regularly. My intent was to open this up to others who may like to participate but of whom I was not aware. If you would like to participate in either the 10:30 service or the 9:00 service would you please let me know via email or a phone call so that I can make up the roster? If you are still willing to participate would you please confirm that for me via email or phone call? I would really appreciate it as I would like to have the roster made up by the end of October.

Bake Table
Keep those ovens warm as you plan your offerings for the Treats and Treasures Bake Table . This is another quick recipe you might like to add to your collection. These chocolate brownies are delicious, they have a thin, firm icing...makes packaging them easy and attractive...you know we eat with our eyes first!

Brownies:
1 cup sugar           pinch of salt            5 tbsp. butter
2 eggs                       4 tablespoons cocoa             2/3 cups flour
1/3 cup whipping cream             1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 chopped walnuts (optional)
Cream sugar and butter. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into greased 8 inch pan. Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes.

Icing:
2 tablespoons cocoa              2 tablespoons butter (softened)
3 tablespoons strong coffee (liquid)                 icing sugar

Mix ingredients and add icing sugar until it is the consistency of icing. I tend to reduce the sugar making a thinner icing more like a glaze.
