Melissa J. Pond, LLC - Winner of the Commonwealth Heroine Award

“The Commonwealth Heroines are women who don’t make the news, but make all the difference in their communities,” said MCSW Chairwoman Mary-dith Tuitt. “Thousands of women in every community across the Commonwealth perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and towns better places to live. Commonwealth Heroines use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their community. They are mentors, volunteers, and innovators - they are the glue that keeps a community together.”

Among this year’s honorees is Melissa J. Pond, a distinguished nonprofit expert and founder of Melissa J Pond LLC. With over 15 years of unwavering commitment to the public sector, Melissa has successfully secured funding for numerous community-based projects, transforming ideas into action through strategic grant writing and organizational development. She holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University and has served on the executive or advisory boards of more than a dozen organizations. Prior to founding her consulting firm, Melissa served the City of Quincy as a Community Development Planner and the Town of Abington as a member of the Board of Health. Her reputation as a trusted leader is built on her unique ability to illuminate both the challenges and opportunities in community engagement, resulting in measurable improvements across diverse settings. Deeply committed to personal and professional growth, Melissa brings a values-based approach to her work and empowers organizations to drive meaningful change.

Melissa was nominated for this honor by State Senator John F. Keenan (Norfolk and Plymouth District) in recognition of her impactful contributions to public service, community development, and nonprofit leadership across the Commonwealth.
