Marshfield High School Internship Program
| |
Marshfield Chamber of Commerce partners with Marshfield High School each year to send students out on internship assignments for the last six weeks of their senior year in a variety of career fields. This spring, nineteen students completed nearly 3,000 hours of learning and service across the South Shore in industries of students’ choice. Hosting organizations range from hospitals, real estate, law enforcement, from academic institutions to a variety of specialty trades. This is a great opportunity for students to experience the workplace and practice career readiness in an atmosphere of learning and mentorship. Over the course of six weeks, the interns not only learn about a professional field that interests them, but also how people in the workplace dress, speak, interact with co-workers and customers, and so much more. Their connection to a world outside of the classroom is an invaluable experience that they will most certainly draw from for the rest of their lives. | |

| Marshfield Chamber member businesses and municipal partners receive the benefit of many hours of support work, administrative and marketing (including social media) assistance, IT and technical support, manufacturing support, and support staff. Businesses also benefit from new perspectives and diverse skills, knowledge, and technical capabilities. Participating businesses benefit from connections with municipal entities and leaders, organizational leaders, and other business owners. What’s more, these businesses may choose to temporarily or permanently employ current/past interns in their organizations as employees immediately following the internship or in the future. We see many students continue or return to work in a part-time or full-time capacity after their internship experience. |
