Art in Bloom via The Museum of Fine Arts - ZOOM on May 24, 2023 @ 7:00pm

The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club is pleased to offer a unique virtual event as part of our Blooming Art 2023 festivities. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts virtual tour will provide an up-close look at both the art and floral designs from the Art In Bloom Show held last year at the Museum of Fine Arts. This will be different from the presentation we offered last year which was called Treasures from the Vault.

The Zoom power-point presentation you will see this spring will take viewers through the actual onsite Art in Bloom 2022. It begins with some "behind the scene" shots of arrangers and then moves on to a selection of art accompanied with floral interpretations. In each case, an art guide will describe the work of art and a floral guide will explain both the plant materials in the arrangement and the motivation/inspiration described by the Garden Club arrangers.  It will also show arrangements created by professional designers for Art in Bloom 2022 and take a peek at the Master Classes that were offered. It concludes with photos from a special Art in Bloom fashion show. There will be a Question and Answer Period at the end of the presentation.

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts virtual tour is a fundraiser for the Club. Proceeds from this event will help underwrite the charitable initiatives of the MV Garden Club.

***MV Garden Club members and the General Public may purchase tickets for this virtual event. One ticket please, per transaction, cost is $10.00.
Each purchaser will receive a zoom link sent to the email that you provide
at registration online prior to the tour.

April's Interactive Member Meeting!
On Tuesday, April 18, the Garden Club was pleased to welcome Heidi Schmidt owner and founder of Vineyard Sound Herbs, which began as a plant nursery on the north shore of Martha’s Vineyard in 1987 and soon after, a store in Vineyard Haven.

Heidi moved to Vermont in 2005 where she continues her work at The Tiny Tea House on the Mad River Path Millbrook Trail.  Heidi still considers the Vineyard her home and returns frequently, offering workshops where she shares her philosophy of “herbs for a happier earth.”
During this interactive afternoon presentation Heidi described the many positive uses for herb, both wild and cultivated. Heidi is bubbly and warm, she shared herbal teas and homemade biscuits, which we all tasted and enjoyed, and passed around extracts, oils, and balms.
Heidi answered questions about specific herbs and described in detail how to prepare her herbal teas. Heidi clearly had a wealth of information to share. The presentation was both informative and fun. There were 32 members and guests in total that attended Heidi's program.
Thanks to the Chilmark/Aquinnah members for the refreshments and to Linda Shaw for the pics and the recap of the meeting.
Heidi has a Facebook page which is 'Vineyard Sound Herbs' or you may email her at thetinyteahouse@gmavt.net to order items she sells or for a product list.
