The David Cardno Father and Child Resource strives to empower dads to be actively involved in their families and communities. We understand the substantial impact fathers have on children's lives. Involved fathers are necessary for children to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

We recently completed our Inside Out Dad Class at Martin County Jail with 15 graduates! We are making gains every day in the community helping dads be the best fathers they can. 

The David Cardno Father and Child Resource Center wants to recognize how important our fathers are! Please come out and join us for Father's Fest on June 18th. It will be a time to celebrate dads and spend quality time with their children. There will be free food, fun activities, competitions between fathers and their children, prizes, and more. There will also be the opportunity to have a professional photo done with dads and their kids! We would love to see you all there!
Meet our first cohort of TWELVE trained G.R.O.W Doulas!

We are so excited to bring the G.R.O.W Doula model, which was created and established by Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition in 2018, here to Martin County! In May, we hosted our first 3-day doula training conducted by Darline Turner from The Commonsense Childbirth Institute! Their training focused heavily on birth justice, recognizing and combating inequalities in the healthcare system, and advocacy! Our goals are to help support moms before, during, and after giving birth and helping to ensure every mom has a voice. We can not wait to see what this team can do!
National Nurses Week
Our Healthy Start team visited the mother-baby unit at Cleveland Clinic North and Tradition Hospital to celebrate National Nurses Week. Nurses play an integral role in taking care of our moms and newborns and we wanted to show our appreciation!

Program & Staffing Highlight
Anastasia Anderson - Clinical Provider Liason
Meet our new Clinical Provider Liaison, Anastasia Anderson. She joined healthy Start in April 2022, months after a traumatic loss of her daughter, Aria at 5 months’ gestation.

Anastasia’s passion sprung from her early years in Ghana, where she grew up to witness high rate of infant mortality due to lack of maternal education.

Anastasia has dedicated her life to public health, nursing and in health inequalities.
After her bachelors of science degrees in Community Health and in Nursing from Seton Hall University, Anastasia is currently completing her Master’s degree in Public Health.

Anastasia is joining Healthy Start with over five years’ clinical experience in ICU, Maternity, NICU and the ER from Princeton Hospital in New Jersey. After her move to Florida, Anastasia translated her experiences with a position at the Martin County Health Department as the Health Equity and Florida Healthy Babies coordinator. At the Health Department, Anastasia partnered with Healthy Start, House of Hope, Cleveland Clinic, WIC and Florida Community Health to support and educate women about the importance of early entry into prenatal care and breastfeeding with a focus in minority women.

Anastasia is married to Father Christian Anderson at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart and they have a son named Kwame. When not working, Anastasia enjoys spending time with her family, friends and traveling.
