Welcome to the first issue of our Healthy Start Monthly Newsletter! In this first issue we would like to share a word from our CEO, Samantha Suffich, and introduce you to the rest of the team. This newsletter will serve as a platform in which we will provide tips for new moms, updates on upcoming events, and much more. Our goal is to keep the community informed and aware of all the resources that are available to all expecting and growing families to ensure that every baby in Martin County is born healthy. We are pleased to say that even through this pandemic we have been able to provide services and support to many families, and it's only the beginning. There are so many new and exciting things happening here at Martin County Healthy Start Coalition and we can't wait to share it all with you!

"We are excited to be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year! During this exciting milestone year, we have a number of projects on the horizon to address health disparity for Martin County’s moms and babies like never before. A recent New York Times article highlighted how maternal mortality in the US increased 14% over the past 2 years. Although we are so fortunate to have avoided maternal death locally, we have a staggering 52% of Black Martin County moms experiencing a severe, life threatening complication during their hospitalization of their child’s birth. Keep your eyes on Healthy Start during 2022 as we launch each of our maternal health equity initiatives. Our first is happening April 11-17 during Black Maternal Health Week which will culminate with a community baby shower to celebrate our community’s families. Your invitation is below!"

Ellie's Boutique, located at the Healthy Start Prenatal Outreach Center, is coming soon!! The boutique will include gently used items such as clothing, toys and more. Donations are welcomed!
