Little Women (1hr 15min) [PG] 2019

Greta Gerwig's film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel Little Women follows the lives of the March sisters—Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth—as they navigate the challenges of growing up in post-Civil War America. Jo, an aspiring writer, reflects on their past experiences and dreams for the future. The story explores themes of love, ambition, and the struggle for independence. Gerwig's non-linear narrative structure, interweaving past and present, adds depth to the characters' development. The film is celebrated for its strong performances, particularly by Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh, and its fresh, feminist perspective. Also starring Emma Watson and Eliza Scanlen. Light jacket/sweater recommended for auditorium. This movie series is dedicated to former library director, Donna Tunsoy, for her commitment to our library community. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Martin County Library System, Inc.

Martin Digital History

Celebrating Martin County's Centennial - Jupiter Island

Jupiter Island, originally part of the Gomez Grant from the King of Spain in 1815, was the home of a small hotel when the land owners went bankrupt in 1933. The property was gradually acquired by a group who loved the area. In 1953, Jupiter Island was incorporated as a town. Here, a St. Patrick's Day party at the home of Colonel and Mrs. Thomas Edward Murphy. Closer look: https://www.martindigitalhistory.org/items/show/1607

The mission of Martin Digital History (MDH) is to encourage the appreciation of Martin County’s unique history by collaborating with community members and local organizations to collect, present, and interpret relevant digital content. Visit us online.
