Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
You as SCORE volunteers help your small business clients to keep moving forward, sometimes only a matter of inches, sometimes taking the leap into entrepreneurship, being by their side flying into the unknown, and everything in between. You as SCORE mentors help your clients to keep moving forward no matter what, providing them a lifeline that is critical to their ability to survive and thrive.
Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
At SCORE, you as volunteers give freely of your time, energy and knowledge to help others – and are pivotal to the continued success of SCORE’s mission. You are “on” every day – giving nearly 5 million hours of service to help the people in your communities and across the nation.
You embody selflessness – giving of yourself to help others. Your work matters, and truly makes a difference in our nation. Thank you for all that you do – this day and every day. Your health and safety remains most important to us; please continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones and know that we are incredibly grateful and supportive of you and your work.
