WPTV - As part of its commitment to educating all students for success, Warfield Elementary School has implemented many initiatives designed to get students excited about reading while also ensuring they have access to diverse titles.

"We're committed to instilling a love of learning in all our children and making sure they have all the resources they need to become successful readers," said Principal Cristina Smith.

Media Specialist Candice Krogh wrote the application that earned the school a $5,000 grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries, adding hundreds of books to their collection.

"The goal is to continue to add diverse characters, diverse biographies. Letting children see, as I said, books that show their culture, their heritage," Krogh said. Read more...

Virtual College Planning Workshop Scheduled for Parents/Guardians of High School Students
The Martin County School District's college counseling team has launched a new system called Scoir to help students and their families navigate the college selection and application process. Scoir allows students to update their personal digital profile within a user-friendly app, build and review their college lists, conduct their own college searches, connect with admissions representatives, and more! Scoir also provides parents/guardians with financial tools so that families can get a better sense of the cost of attendance at various colleges/universities during the selection process.

Scoir is offering a virtual information session for Martin County parents/guardians on Monday, September 20, from 7-8 p.m. Scoir's team will walk families through the student and parent/guardian platforms while also answering questions about college planning and financial aid tools. Learn more...
Martin County Schools Celebrate Constitution Week
The Martin County School District is proud to celebrate Constitution Week, which is observed annually from September 17 to September 23.  This year, we are celebrating the 234th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution. In accordance with United States Public Law, students in grades K-12 learn about the U.S. Constitution on Constitution Day (September 17). Many schools will participate in a variety of activities throughout the week that have been designed to enhance students' understanding of and appreciation for our nation's founding document:

  • In partnership with the Martin County Bar Association, ten schools will host practicing attorneys and sitting judges as guest speakers for students.

  • As a cross-curricular project, Martin County High School art students participated in a competition to have their artwork selected for a special edition of the District's "Word of the Week" initiative, which places a different vocabulary word on the desktop of all District-issued devices each week.  Vanessa Martinez-Hernandez's winning artwork is shown below. Her art teacher is Ms. Amanda Jones.

Thank you to the Martin County Bar Association for helping bring the U.S. Constitution to life for our students this school year:  Judge Alan O. Forst (4th District Court of Appeals), Judge Kathleen H. Roberts (19th Judicial Circuit Court) and Adam G. Schwartz, Esq. (Fox McCluskey Law).

Health & Wellness Resources
Bookmark our symptom screening tools (English and Español). Monitoring your child's health daily is key to preventing the spread of illness. To help protect their health and the health of those around them, keep your child home from school when they are ill.

Our screening tools will help you quickly assess your child for a wide variety of symptoms, advising what action is recommended and providing listings for local healthcare providers. If your child or a family member in your home is awaiting a COVID-19 test result, the Florida Department of Health in Martin County (DOH Martin) requires all unvaccinated students in the household to remain home.

Team MCSD - please click here to access our employee symptom screener. You will be able to find local care providers who participate in our Florida Blue network and seek care as necessary.

Families - if your child is experiencing two (2) or more COVID-related symptoms, they must follow the protocol included in section two (2) of the Florida Department of Education/Florida Department of Health's decision tree. This means they must stay home from school until they:

  • Receive a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid) and all symptoms have resolved OR

  • Ten (10) days have passed since the onset of their symptoms (or a positive test result), they have had no fever for 24 hours and their other symptoms are improving OR

  • They receive written permission from their health care provider to return to school.

Many local physicians and pharmacies are offering COVID-19 immunizations to interested individuals aged 12 and up. Please click here to locate a provider near you. The CDC and DOH Martin advise that the COVID-19 vaccine is the best, long-term way to fight the virus.

COVID-19 testing is available throughout our community. Click here to view upcoming opportunities for free PCR testing through the Florida Department of Health in Martin County (DOH Martin). Click here to view testing opportunities offered by local pharmacies and physicians.
COVID-19 Dashboard, Quarantine Resources
Bookmark our COVID-19 dashboard to stay informed about school-related positive cases and quarantines. The dashboard is updated twice daily.

Please use the "Year" tab to filter data by current school year (2021-2022), Summer 2021 or last school year (2020-2021).

If you do not see case/quarantine information displayed for a particular school or department, this means the school or department has not experienced a positive case or quarantine in the 2021-2022 school year. Data for charter and private schools will not be reflected on the dashboard, as these schools are not operated by the Martin County School District. Have questions about how to navigate the dashboard? Please click here.

The decision tree included here will be used by DOH Martin when determining the quarantine status of students.

According to the protocols established by the FDOH, fully vaccinated, asymptomatic students are not required to quarantine following contact with a positive case. Asymptomatic students who have been infected with COVID-19 within the previous 90 days are not required to quarantine following contact with a positive case.

The FDOH's protocols state that unvaccinated, asymptomatic students who have been exposed to a positive case may return to school after they receive a negative test result at least four (4) days after the date of exposure, or without a test result if at least seven (7) days have passed since the date of exposure to the positive individual. Students who are either positive or symptomatic, regardless of vaccination status, must follow the steps outlined in section 2.

Please remember - if your child is experiencing two (2) or more COVID-related symptoms, they must follow the protocol included in section two (2) of the Florida Department of Education/Florida Department of Health's decision tree.
