There is a way for black women executives to increase their numbers in business leadership positions if conscientious and intentional steps are taken to recognize and reward their talents and contributions to business success. A qualitative study conducted by The Executive Leadership Council, the preeminent membership organization for the development of global black leaders, in collaboration with Springboard - Partners in Cross Cultural Leadership, builds on the findings of the groundbreaking research in the Black Women Executives (BWE) Research Initiative in 2008.

The Pentagon said Thursday it was ending the ban on transgender people being able to serve openly in the U.S. military. The announcement -- which removes one of the last barriers to military service by any individual -- was made by Defense Secretary Ash Carter, who had been studying the issue for almost a year.

Star Trek is known for its multicultural cast, with Gene Roddenberry's original series at the forefront of casting actors from a variety of racial backgrounds at the time.  Director Justin Lin said Star Trek's diverse casting had a major influence on him when he was young.  "When I was growing up I'd never seen anything like it. People see [characters] Sulu and Chekov and it was ahead of its time," Lin said.

A new report shows that men's and women's wages are closer to parity than they've ever been, but white men and women aren't necessarily the highest wage earners. The Pew Research Center found that Asian men's median hourly earnings were higher than white men's - $24 to $21, respectively. Asian women also earned more than white women ($18 per hour versus $17 per hour) and black and Hispanic wage earners regardless of gender, whose median hourly earnings were between $12 and $15.
Companies that cast a larger net into the talent pool and don't discriminate based on sexual orientation are far more successful than those who do, according to a Credit Suisse survey.

Linear streaming service FilmOn TV Networks is adding a bundle of Spanish-language video and audio channels to its lineup through a partnership with Oi2 Media Corp, a move that continues to line up FilmOn with Hispanic market competitors like YipTV, mitu, and others.

Viacom 18, after ruling the rating charts in the Kannada market for 62 weeks, now is set to launch its second GEC in the same space. Come 24 July 2016 Karnataka will have a new channel, Colors Super offering new programming.

Honda is launching a new integrated Hispanic marketing campaign for the redesigned 2017 Ridgeline pickup truck, which went on sale in late June. The multiplatform campaign appeals to the brand's expanding market of Hispanic customers and will launch with the Ridgeline's official sponsorship of the Univision Deportes' broadcast of "CampeĆ³n de Campeones," the emblematic Mexican soccer championship match between the winners of the two most recent Liga MX seasons, taking place on July 10 in Los Angeles and airing on Univision Network and simulcast on UDN (Univision Deportes Network).

Nominate a Leader for ELDP Class XVI
 
NAMIC (National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications) is now accepting nominations for the 2016-2017 Class XVI of the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. ELDP is unique in its focus on both men and women of color and the exploration of the intersection of business-critical leadership competencies with cultural identity.
