October 25 - 27, 2017
PACP Chamber Professionals & Leadership Conference Clarion, PA
How long have you been in the Chamber profession?
How long have you been in your current position?
What do you love most about your job?
Diversity of our membership, diversity of activities on a day to day operations of a small chamber and diversity of partners to have impact and move the Greater Hazelton business & community forward. I can honestly say in 3 years I have not had two days or two months alike!
Aside from colleagues at your Chamber, which Chamber Executive has had the biggest impact on your career and how?
Chad Amond from Westmoreland, Bob Durkin of Scranton Chamber. The Executive Committee of the Greater Hazelton Chamber Board of Directors has also been key. There have been a few significant challenges for the organization since I started that were addressed with leadership and skill sharing of fantastic volunteers.
What is your Chamber's signature event?
Our Anniversary Mixer held in October of each year. 2017 will be our third year of hosting the event. It is a free event, thanks to our sponsors, where we gather to celebrate members reaching a milestone year from 25 years to 100 years of membership. That's right...100 years! Greater Hazleton Chamber has celebrated 5 different members who have 100 years of membership with us. It is a great event, honors business success and longevity in our community and recognizes the impact that a chamber can have. It is also a room full of "not your usual" chamber member participants. We will celebrate 125 years of service to our community at our annual meeting on May 18, 2017.
What is your favorite destination outside of the one you represent and why?
Pittsburgh for 2 reasons, the amazing revitalization of the city in many different locations and forms and because my oldest daughter is attending law school at Duquesne University Law School.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An Olympic Athlete (I am competitive to my core even today) and President (probably of the United States because I was "bossy" even then. LOL), so I am going to say I have gone one for two.
Why is PACP important to you?
Excellent resource on current chamber "hot topics," colleague exchange, and a chance to "vent" on a bad day to someone who does understand the unique nature or my work.
