It is with tremendous sadness we share that Mary Susan Appelquist died December 29, 2020.
Susan graduated from Springfield Public Schools but spent her early childhood in Mt. Vernon. She received both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Missouri. Susan was a good student, and her early academic distinction was a precursor to the personal and professional standards maintained through a career spanning more than four decades. After practicing briefly in St. Louis, Susan returned to her roots and spent the duration of her career maintaining offices in Mount Vernon and Springfield.
Susan was from a family of lawyers but was a pillar of the bar in her own right. She served her clients, her profession and her community. Susan will be missed for her wisdom and kindness by countless friends and colleagues but most of all by those who called her sister and aunt.
The SMBA extends heartfelt condolences to Susan's siblings and fellow members of the bar, John Appelquist and Nancy Appelquist Allen, and all those who grieve this loss.
