Mary stored all these things in her heart...
Yesterday, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today, Saturday, we celebrate the memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

When I think of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I am reminded of an image of the blessed Mother that my mom has had since I was little. It's a beautiful image of our Blessed Mother. who is pointing to her immaculate and pierced heart. When I was young, this image actually scared me as her eyes would seem to follow me where I would go. Over time that thought went away as I realized that it was, after all, just an image and not a real person...

The captivating thing about beautiful artwork is that, if done well, images can have that affect that I mentioned above, where the eyes of our Mother seemed to always be looking at me no matter which part of the room I was in. As I reflect on that, it brings me comfort now, rather than fear, because although it is just an image, its become a power reminder for me of how my Blessed Mother in Heaven continues to watch over me, her child.

As we celebrate these days of the Most Sacred of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, always keep in mind of the great and personal love they have for you and me that they would continue to watch over us at every moment in our lives. Keeping us in their hearts...

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, watch over us!
