Mural Restoration
"Rescue a Single Life and You Rescue the World"
In 2008, Evergreen Montessori School created this mural to honor first responders from the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad. Over the years, age, weather, and construction in the Wheaton Triangle, took their tool and the mural fell into disrepair. Thanks to a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council and support from Leonard Greenberg of Greenhill Companies (the building owner), Wheaton Arts Parade was able to restore the mural to its former glory.
The restoration was led by local mural artist Eric B. Ricks with assistance from Paige Friedeman, Malik Harp, and Tim Cunningham. There will be an official dedication after school resumes so that students, families and teachers from Evergreen Montessori School can participate. Thanks to Sherwin-Williams for giving a discount and to the Wheaton Urban District "Red Shirts" for providing water for the power wash and traffic cones to help keep the artists safe.
