Maryland Charity Campaign

The 2025 Maryland Charity Campaign kicks off today - Oct. 6. This year's theme is Giving Back Together.

State employees, and retirees, can designate a donation amount from their paychecks to help Maryland VOAD support disaster response and recovery. Donations started in FY2025, and we are excited to be part of the campaign for 2026. The Campaign runs October 6 - December 12, 2025.

Please encourage your State employee friends, relatives, and colleagues to support Maryland VOAD.  Use MCC Code: 32-0333663.

Work Crews Needed to Assist Survivors in Western Maryland

IMG_5657-281x375 image

Work crews are needed to help our neighbors in Western Maryland. Open jobs range from full muckouts with appliances to just pressure washing to trees jammed under a house. Something for everyone!!

Planned work days are Saturdays: October 11 and October 18. More dates will be added as needed. Weekday crews are a possibility if there are leaders, tools, and equipment available.

Huge thank you to the AMAZING Ellen Udovich for serving as our volunteer project coordinator.

Available details are below.

Rally Location:

  • Bruce Outreach Center, 388 Philos Avenue, Westernport, MD
  • Parking is available for volunteers who want to carpool to worksites
  • Restrooms may or may not be available on Saturdays. Alternate restrooms are available at McDonalds: 182 Church Street, Westernport (and buy a coffee or Egg McMuffin to help that local business)

Saturday Schedule:

  • 8:30am - Arrive at Bruce Outreach Center to sign in and for a briefing, assignments, and to load equipment
  • 9:00am - Depart to worksites. Later start times can be arranged for groups traveling a long distance to Westernport
  • End-of-Day - Groups are not expected to work beyond 5:00pm. Please check in the with the project coordinator and return any borrowed tools/equipment before departing for home.

What to Bring:

  • Volunteers should plan on bringing their own lunch and snacks. Bottled water will be provided.
  • Groups are encouraged to bring equipment and tools for their project if possible. The Baptist equipment trailer will be onsite and can lend out equipment if needed.
  • A briefing sheet with an attached liability waiver will be sent to each group leader upon signup. Please ask your volunteers to bring their signed waiver with them.

If you can put together a work crew, please contact Ellen at 443-250-2555 or ellen.udovich@gmail.com.

MEMBER AND PARTNER DUES:

Thank you, Maryland VOAD members and partners for your prompt payment of our annual dues. It makes my volunteer treasurer job a lot easier.

We still have a few stragglers (you know who you are), so please get those payments in as soon as possible.  Dues are used to cover expenses that are difficult to fund from grants and personal donations.
