HELP NEEDED: Clean-Up Buckets Needed

Church World Service (CWS) needs more Clean-Up Bucket Kits: CWS, a Maryland VOAD member, requests your help to gather clean-up buckets.

Zach Wolgemuth, the CWS Director of Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, reported that as of this morning, the organization has authorized/shipped “3,296 Emergency Cleanup Buckets valued at $247,200 and 4,360 Hygiene Kits valued at $65,400 to partners in the impacted region. Additional requests for kits and blankets are coming in almost daily. Unfortunately, the Emergency Cleanup Bucket inventory is less than 1,000 buckets in inventory.”

Can you put together bucket kits that can be sent to help survivors? More information is at https://cwskits.org/assemble-kits.

Kits can be delivered in Maryland at:

Nonprofit Security Grant Program

Notice of Funding Opportunity Forthcoming

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) would like to announce that a Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is forthcoming.

Overview

GPD anticipates publishing a NOFO for the remaining $210 million in supplemental funding appropriated by the National Security Supplemental (Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024). The upcoming opportunity will be referred to as the NSGP – National Security Supplemental (NSS).

The expected date of publication is October 28, 2024; the application period will be open for 88 days. Key enhancements will include: 1) raising the individual project cap from $150,000 to $200,000 ($600,000 for three sites); 2) expanding eligibility to include consortia as eligible subrecipients in which multiple nonprofits may apply for like projects under one subrecipient application; and 3) the ability for states and territories to retain an additional 2% to conduct technical assistance and outreach (in addition to the 5% already allowed for management and administrative costs).

Similar to previous iterations of NSGP, the application receipt, sub-awarding, and post-award management processes of this program will be managed through State Administrative Agencies (SAAs); FEMA is coordinating closely with SAAs to ensure a smooth rollout with the NSGP-NSS.

More information will be provided in a forthcoming webinar series. Stay tuned to fema.gov/grants for dates and times!
