The Marylanders Online Call Center provides Maryland residents with free one-on-one tech support including hardware and software support, internet connectivity, and ACP application assistance. Digital navigators also direct callers to online resources and to digital literacy events held by government and community organizations.

University of Maryland Extension is now a licensed partner with Senior Planet from AARP offering Digital Skills Training classes for people aged 50 and over.
Starting July, Senior Planet trainers will be offering a wide range of programs that helps older adults learn and use technology so they could live more connected in the digital age.

The University of Maryland Extension has created the Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) Caregiver Education Program to support ADRD caregivers as they navigate the health, nutrition, and financial challenges ADRD poses. Virtual and in-person sessions of the program will take place from May 17th to June 29th across locations in Maryland.
This program was developed using grant funding provided to the University of Maryland Extension from the Maryland Department of Health, Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control.

In response to the Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program, the digital navigators at the Marylanders Online Call Center are receiving training to assist users who are blind or visually impaired with assistive technologies such as RealSam Pocket, Kapsys MiniVision2+, Google Pixel 6A, Hable external keyboard, etc.
Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program, a service of Maryland Relay, offers a wide variety of solutions and tools—from amplified phones to Braille TTYs to tablets—to support day-to-day communications. The MAT program distributes free amplified, captioned and hands-free phones, ring signalers, text telephones and other assistive devices to qualified Maryland applicants who have difficulty using a standard telephone.

Tech Extension will be Partnering with the Charles County Library to assist with ACP sign-up at distribution sites for the Connected Devices Program.
The Connected Devices (MD-CDP) grant program is designed to assist in digital equity and inclusion efforts in Maryland. MD-CDP is intended to provide new, internet-enabled devices to families who are most in need.
Qualifying households have an opportunity to receive one free Chromebook computer per address. Each address, beneficiary name, device identification, and other necessary data for device distribution and program reporting purposes will be received at the time of eligibility determination and prior to the distribution of the device.

Storytelling With PowerPoint | |
Tech Extension partnered with The Boys and Girls Club Of Southern Maryland at Calvert Elementary to host a series of workshops teaching youth the art of storytelling through the use of Powerpoint. The students learned how to create slides, insert photos, insert text, create animations, and utilize rulers to center the layouts on each slide. At the end of this project, each student will have the story they create printed and bound for their keeping. | |
