Good Shepherd Family:

As you may know, Jacksonville is in the midst of a rapid increase in positive COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations, much of which is attributable to the Delta variant of COVID. Duval County has been designated as an area of high transmission by the CDC.

On Tuesday, July 27, the CDC issued updated guidance regarding wearing masks by fully vaccinated individuals. Per the CDC, the change in guidance was driven by the Delta variant’s much higher transmission rate and some evidence that fully vaccinated individuals can spread the variant to others.

To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, the CDC recommends that fully vaccinated individuals in areas of high transmission wear masks indoors in public. Further, all unvaccinated should wear masks indoors.

From the start of the COVID pandemic, we have tried to assess circumstances and organize our response in loving consideration for the safety of all – changing our response as circumstances have allowed. Due to this change in CDC guidance, and in loving respect for each other and our community, this Sunday we will be returning to wearing masks for service. We will continue to worship in the main church building.
