Dear Girl Scout Troop Leaders and Service Unit Volunteers,
Our Girl Scouts are off to another great year. They are engaging in awesome outdoor experiences, giving back to their communities in a time when it is needed most, taking on so many of our cool badges and getting ready to run their cookie business in just a few short weeks.
This is all possible because of volunteers like YOU who have stayed connected with your Girl Scouts as a sense of continuity in this unprecedented time for our country and our world.
Thank YOU for ensuring girls continue to experience Girl Scouts through it all.
In light of the increasing news of surging COVID-19 cases in our communities, I want to reach back out to all of you and remind you to visit our COVID-19 Guidance and Support space on our website. It has been and will continue to be a resource for YOU and we are committed to keeping it up to date with information regarding GSKSMO Girl Scout activities.
As a Girl Scouts council that covers 47 diverse counties, it is advised that you look first to your local health officials regarding safety of in person activities. However, please be aware that GSKSMO will now REQUIRE masks to be worn for all in person activities held indoors and activities held outdoors where 6 feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.
Safety for our Girl Scouts and Volunteers will always be our top priority. We will continue to monitor CDC guidance, local health officials and changes within community school districts to determine the safety of in person activities as we move into the coming weeks.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Chief Operating Officer
PS – I hope you have had the opportunity to check out our monthly virtual programming available. This is for Girl Scouts of all grade levels and designed to be done as a family at home or as a supplement to in person troop activities. Every month, we provide a guide to help girls earn a badge, focus on STEAM, encourage family fun, find ways to serve, and spotlight great community partners.
