WorthPoint succeeds with low-cost IPO
In 2007, Will Seippel, CEO/Founder of WorthPoint and a GMU alumnus, joined MEC-Fairfax to grow his online antique auction business. Today, WorthPoint is one of the pioneers of small businesses in the US to conduct a low-cost IPO. The Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act allowed smaller companies to go public at a relatively low cost and to use public advertising and solicitation online. To celebrate, Seippel returned to MEC-Fairfax on February 23 to talk with MEC clients, local entrepreneurs, and small business owners about his experience with low-cost IPO's.

Provato joins MEC-Fauquier
MEC-Fauquier member, Provato, needed an office to train new employees and to help launch an exciting new business spinoff.  Called Wombuz, it will help small companies utilize digital marketing strategies to attract top talent. Provato augments the internal recruiting departments of the fastest-growing federal contractors in the industry. Solvitur Systems, a member of MEC-Leesburg, was recently awarded their HUBZone certification. The HUBZone program is designed to promote job growth, capital investment, and economic development to historically underutilized geographic areas, like the one MEC-Leesburg is located within.
