MEC-Fauquier welcomes Succor Solutions
Justin Burns at Succor Solutions, Inc., has been working with the MEC-Fauquier since September of 2017, and has just become a new virtual client. His mission is to "Embed into Disasters. Engage Communities, Empower Individuals." by introducing a versatile and adaptive disaster-relief and recovery model that focuses on building the health and resiliency of vulnerable populations.   And he recently deployed to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Succor Solutions chose MEC-Fauquier because of its staff, location, resources, knowledge, and networking opportunities.
MEC-Fauquier welcomes Wrap Buddies
After a successful launch of their Wrap Buddies® product on Kickstarter, Damascus Products LLC's founder Bret Wortman joined MEC-Fauquier's co-working space. It was hard to keep work and family separate when working at home, he explained. "Co-working at the MEC-Fauquier allows me the flexibility to spend time in a space that has no such conflicts.   Plus, the opportunity to network with others and work with SBDC counsellors and mentors is huge." Wortman firmly believes co-working has helped him focus and make huge gains in efficiency. "Now, when I'm home, I'm home; my kids aren't confused anymore."
Traxyl wins NSF grant
Daniel Turner and Stephen Carter, owners of Traxyl, received a Small Business Research Grant from the National Science Foundation for nearly $250,000 to advance their plans to bring internet services to outlying areas. By bridging the digital divide, television, internet, and gaming become available to people in "the last mile." Traxyl, a MEC-Fauquier virtual client, plans to work on machinery design with engineers to build networks cheaper and faster than traditional methods.  Their work was featured in Washington Business Journal.
Gi4 wins subcontract through TISTA
MEC Leesburg member Gi4 has been awarded a subcontract through prime contractor TISTA in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). TISTA received a $163 million Financial Services Project Management Support Services contract and selected Gi4 as a subcontractor. Gi4 will support the VA Financial Service Center in fraud, waste, and abuse prevention; financial data analytics; accounts payable and receivable; as well as distribution of benefits to Veterans. Gi4 is a Woman-Owned, Service Disabled, Veteran-Owned, HUBZone Certified small business.
Lynker Technologies on 75 Fastest Growing Companies list
Lynker Technologies, MEC-Leesburg member, was recently named to Washington Business Journal's 75 Fastest Growing Companies list. The Journal surveyed over 2000 local companies to put together a list of 75 who experienced the most revenue growth in a three-year period. Selected companies will be recognized at their Fastest Growing Companies awards reception on November 1.  Read more

MEC-SBDC's CAIRD Sextant wins contracts
CAIRD Sextant LLC -- a minority-owned, Small Disadvantaged Business, established in October 2013 by Dr. Rafael A Olivieri -- provides environmental security and management support to government and commercial clients.  In June, CAIRD Sextant completed a $16,000 subcontract to BMT Designers & Planners.  In August, they signed on as a subcontractor to HDR, a premier architectural, engineering, and consulting firm who has a large contract with the US Navy.  Upon completion, CAIRD Sextant expects to secure funds at similar value for a follow-up task.  Read more
AIM Human Performance jumps over major hurdles to open
After completing a NxLevel Business Planning series, Christopher and Michelle Viggiano were ready to open their fitness company.  Key to the business was the very expensive and massive exercise equipment.  They purchased it, using all their savings and a sizeable inheritance.  But the delivery man never showed up.  He ran off with everything.  Weeks later, the police nabbed the robber and returned the stolen goods and money.  With help from Karlene Sinclair-Robinson, AIM opened, and after one year they have reached all their five-year goals. Read more

FedWriters on Inc's 500 list, wins $24.5 million NOAA contract
From 2014 to 2017, FedWriters' revenue grew an astonishing 2,144%, and from 1 employee to more than 45.  FedWriters provides a range of communication and publication services for various government and commercial organizations. In August 2018, FedWriters was awarded a 5-year, $24.5 million IDIQ contract with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide a range of scientific and technical services to support weather, marine, and climate research and development.
