Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
The Board, leadership, volunteers, and supporters of Humanity First USA would like to express their profound sorrow and extend heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and loved ones of respected Saadat Abdullah, who passed away on August 31st.
Respected Saadat Abdullah was a pioneer of Humanity First USA's service to people facing hunger. In 2006, just two years after Humanity First USA was established, he initiated the organization's first Food Security program. For 16 years he prepared and served hot meals to people experiencing homelessness and the needy on the streets and in shelters of Philadelphia.
By doing so, he helped lay the foundation for a program that has grown to include soup kitchens, food pantries, food drives, emergency food assistance, and community partnerships serving vulnerable individuals and families across the United States. His example reflected the Humanity First principle of serving all people with dignity, kindness, and without distinction.
His pioneering spirit, humility, and dedication to fighting hunger will remain part of Humanity First USA's institutional legacy. He will be remembered with gratitude by his colleagues, fellow volunteers, and the many people whose lives were touched by the service he began.
May Allah grant him forgiveness, mercy, and an elevated station in the Hereafter, and may He grant patience, comfort, and strength to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Ameen.
