Mass Tech Monday

December 28, 2020

As 2020 comes to a close, we wonder how history will tell its story.

Will it capture the everyday heroes and the resilience and resolve of the best of us as we worked to hold our families, our communities, and our teams safe and close? Will it reflect the intensity of the days for so many of us - on video calls with children attending zoom classrooms - or the despair of those whose businesses, jobs, and livelihoods were affected or lost? How will we tell personal stories of a year when we commuted less, focused more, and found ways to pursue what matters through so much adversity?

For the 12-person team here at MassTLC, 2020 was a year when we worked diligently to harness our members’ and our own creative thinking, our entrepreneurial spirit, and the support of the greater community to keep doing what we do best. We brought people together to talk about tech industry issues, share their business insights, commiserate over hardships, and celebrate successes.

We worked together with our membership to address big challenges, most notably signing up more than 90 companies to the Tech Compact for Social Justice to improve diversity and inclusion in technology companies in MA. In addition, the MassTLC Board Ready Bootcamp has supported more than 150 people from groups that are under-represented on tech boards to help them prepare for this important role and step in their careers.

We responded to crisis by adapting and innovating our team and its processes, and we were energized by our calls with members and by meeting the challenge of supporting them through change.

We always kept our focus on MassTLC’s value to members and our mission to accelerate growth, innovation, and the development of an inclusive tech ecosystem in Massachusetts. In fact, we have - and will continue to - double down on opportunities for people to make connections, learn from industry leaders, gain visibility, and drive impact for their organizations.

A summary year-in-review doesn’t depict the insightful content of the meetings and calls we held in 2020, nor the purpose and warmth of the connections we made, but it does reflect our resilience, work ethic and drive.

2021, welcome! MassTLC is ready for you.
