Mass of Reparation

Bishop Vásquez has requested every parish in the Diocese of Austin to have a Mass of Reparation for the crimes of sexual abuse in the church this coming Tues., Oct. 9. The Mass will be a time to seek forgiveness for the sins of abuse and to seek healing for the victims of abuse.

St. Austin is joining with the University Catholic Center for this Mass on Tues., Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., located two blocks east of St. Austin on 21st St., at 2010 University Ave. St. Austin parking will be available for the Mass, including our garage at 500 W MLK.

You are also welcome to pray with Bishop Joe Vásquez at St. Mary Cathedral, located at 203 E. 10th St., also on Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m. Parking info for the Cathedral is online at https://www.smcaustin.org/map.

"Because we are a people of faith, we must gather together in prayer begging God for forgiveness for those who have abused children and vulnerable people," Bishop Vásquez wrote. "In this painful time, we, as believers, turn to God confident that he will give us the wisdom and strength to overcome our weaknesses."
