Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Network Expands
The Massachusetts eHealth Institute has selected four new healthcare R&D hubs to join the Digital Health Sandbox Network and awarded grants to support three digital health companies in accessing the network. The Sandbox Program connects digital health startups to cutting-edge R&D facilities in Massachusetts and allows Massachusetts startups the opportunity to apply for funding to test their innovations at one of the network’s labs. Cybersecurity in the Age of COVID-19
The coronavirus global pandemic has not halted the activity of cyber criminals. If anything, it has emboldened them to take advantage of the crisis and use it as a way to put a new spin on their scams. The team at the MassCyberCenter is helping raise awareness about these threats by sharing news and resources so people and businesses can help protect themselves during this time. If you’re interested in enhancing your cybersecurity, you can also access the  Cybersecurity Toolkit for Digital Health . Developed by a panel of Massachusetts experts, the Toolkit serves as an educational resource for companies at all stages of growth on both the fundamentals and best practices for cybersecurity and privacy protection.
Telehealth Use Surges During Pandemic
New state data shows community health centers have seen a spike in telehealth use during the pandemic. Telehealth visits for medical services in MA rose from 506 in January to more than 83,000 in April. Health centers have moved quickly to adjust to the surge in demand. Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative Winds Down Operations
The Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), a non-profit pioneer and national leader in health information technology for over 15 years, is winding down its operations in 2020. MAeHC was originally formed in 2004 to support the adoption of electronic health records and health information exchanges in three Massachusetts communities. Over time, MAeHC’s mission evolved to include the promotion of health information technologies that allow hospitals, physicians and other provider organizations to immediately access critical patient medical information. MAeHC was instrumental in supporting this transition, acting as an implementing organization under the federal Regional Extension Center grant managed by the Massachusetts eHealth Institute and as a core partner in creating the Mass HIway, the state’s health information exchange.  Read More .
