Set-Aside Programs Empower Residents through Housing

Since 1990, MassHousing's Housing Stability Department has collaborated with a number of state agencies on the 3% Set-Aside Programs. These unique, collaborative initiatives help people with disabilities and older adults live in the least restrictive settings possible by providing access to community-based housing coupled with services and support to be successful members of the community.

Through the Set-Aside Programs, owners of rental housing financed by MassHousing, the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, MassDevelopment and the Massachusetts Housing Partnership provide priority access to referrals from the Departments of Mental Health and Developmental Services, the Executive Office of Aging and Independence and MassAbility.

Heidi, a client of DMH, shared how the Set-Aside Program changed her life, opening new doors for her personally and professionally. Read Heidi's story.
