Greetings!

Our August 2nd outing was described by participants and guests as an outstanding event. Some 120 golfers enjoyed the Town of Oyster Bay's outstanding Woodbury, NY Golf Course. First time participants were impressed with the links course that was constructed on a large private estate with ample land for a tournament caliber course. The Manor House constructed in the late 1800's was converted to a club house. A joint venture between the town and a caterer resulted in a Catering Hall addition that can accommodate close to 300 guests. Initially, the weather report predicted afternoon thundershowers and a humid day. By the time that golf carts pulled out of the lot for a scramble format around noon, not a cloud was in the blue sky. Humidity was down and we had one of the best days in our 15 year history.

Beginning at 4:30 some one hundred and seventy dinner gusts began to arrive through the Manor House doors. Golfers began to come off the course around 5 PM and the reception hour began. A buffet dinner was served to the 290 guests with dispatch.

At 7:00 PM Hall of Fame President Mike Hanna and MHS Principal James Grossane welcomed guests. Directors Pauline Koller and Carol Ann Habeeb awarded 12 $2,000 scholarships to MHS Class of 2010 members.

Master's of Ceremonies Gary Baldinger and Linda Hanna inducted Christie Welsh, MHS 99, Andrew McCaffrey, MHS 76, Richard Cassaro, BHS 78, Vance P. Zider, BHS 72, Bob Nelson, BHS 76, James Karpen, MHS 72 and Matthew J. Simeone, BHS 76 to the Massapequa High School Hall of Fame. Three Community / Staff Honorees were also inducted. They are, Cynthia Krieg, Frank J. Flood Jr. and John Devine.
