CATHEDRAL YOUTH PROCESSION: SUNDAY OCTOBER 1 AT NOON MASS All children are invited to join the Noon Mass entrance procession in honor of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus. PRAYER FOR THE SYNOD Today, the Synod delegates begin a three-day retreat in preparation for the Assembly, which begins October 4. Please pray for Archbishop Etienne and all who are participating in the Assembly. Her school age child was on a waitlist for a free summer camp that would allow her to go back to part-time work, but when we visited with her, the family was still waiting for his name to be chosen. With no income, the woman found she could not meet her rent payment. This neighbor called the St Vincent de Paul Helpline requesting assistance (206-767-6449). SUPPORT THE SOLANUS CASEY CENTER Named after Franciscan priest Blessed Solanus Casey, the Center (a joint ministry of Catholic Community Services and St. James Cathedral) is a walk-in referral center that provides services to the unemployed, working poor, people just released from detention, and those living on the streets, shelters, and transitional housing. The Center also offers modest financial assistance as funds allow. In particular, it is one of the few agencies in Seattle that will help pay for ID cards and provide assistance with necessary background paperwork. The Center is open Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 4pm. FAITH FRIENDS INCLUSION MINISTRY Faith Friends is an inclusion ministry serving children and teens from across the Archdiocese of Seattle. We are a unique blend of our Faith Mentor and Children’s Faith Formation program, and provide Sacramental Preparation, as well as opportunities for friendship with other youth. TEEN, YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FAITH FRIENDS MINISTRY Faith Friends is a unique blend of our Faith Mentor, children’s faith formation program, and an inclusion ministry. The ministry's goal is to give children and teens ages 7- 18 with physical, cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities access to the parish community, social events, and faith formation. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Faith Friends program is the Faith Peer program. Faith Peers are teens and young adults who have chosen to live out their discipleship and share some of their personal time in dedication and service to the goals of the program.
