INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC? Seeking a closer relationship with God? Feeling the need for spiritual community and support? Wanting to make the Catholic faith your own? Wondering how to go about joining the Catholic Church? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) might be for you. Information John Marquez, 206-654-4640, jmarquez@stjames-cathedral.org.

VISIT THE CATHEDRAL COLUMBARIUM The Cathedral’s Columbarium on the north side of the Cathedral was blessed by Archbishop Etienne last December. A columbarium is a cemetery for the reverent burial of cremated remains. The way we honor the mortal remains of our deceased family members and friends is a reflection of the faith we profess in the Nicene Creed: we believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. The columbarium is open for prayer whenever the Cathedral is open. It is a beautiful place to visit and pray for all our beloved dead. Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL HELPLINE Are you in need of rent assistance? Perhaps during the pandemic you lost your job or had your hours reduced and have fallen behind in rent payments. Whatever the cause, please call the Helpline. If you live in Seattle or elsewhere in King County, please submit your request for help online at https://svdpseattle.org/get-help/online-help-request-form/ anytime or by calling 206-767-6449 between 8am and 3pm Monday through Friday. And if you are fortunate enough to be able to help others, please donate to SVdP online at https://osvhub.com/stjames-cathedral/giving/funds and click on ‘Give Now’ in the SVdP box. No amount is too small, and your funds will be put to work quickly by your Cathedral Vincentians. We are unpaid volunteers, so 99% of your donation goes directly to help our neighbors in need. Thank you! Information, Jo Ann Wiesner, 206-291-4012 or wiesnerjo@gmail.com

HYGIENE ITEMS FOR OUR UNSHELTERED NEIGHBORS The St Vincent de Paul Society is seeking donations of hygiene items for Seattle’s unsheltered neighbors. Donated items will be assembled into individual hygiene kits which will then be distributed in person by SVdP volunteers. Hygiene items being sought include: travel size shampoo/conditioner/lotion; bar soap; hand sanitizer; disposable razors; deodorant; lip balm; dental floss, toothbrush, travel size toothpaste; small packets of Kleengloves. The donation box is located in the Cathedral Bookstore, which is open Monday through Friday, 11:00am-3:00pm and after weekend Masses.

TEEN, YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FAITH FRIENDS MINISTRY Faith Friends is a unique blend of our Faith Mentor, children’s faith formation program, and an inclusion ministry. The program's goal is to give children and teens ages 7- 18 with physical, cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities access to the parish community, social events, and faith formation. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Faith Friends program is the Faith Peer program. Faith Peers are teens and young adults who have chosen to live out their discipleship and share some of their personal time in dedication and service to the goals of the program. Adult volunteers are needed for the Adult Leadership team. Training for Faith Mentors, Faith Peers and Adult Leadership begins soon. Information, Jennifer Wong, 206-619-0816, faithfriends@stjames-cathedral.org, or https://stjames-faithfriends.weebly.com.

CARE FOR CREATION TIP OF THE WEEK Take a deep breath and decide that collectively we can avert the climate crisis, and that you will play your part. You will be a hopeful visionary for humanity as together we avert the effects of climate change. From this moment, despair ends and the work to save the world begins.

Please reach out to explore how you can serve our children and together with them attend to the voice of the Good Shepherd. Information, Theresa Van de Ven, tvandeven@stjames-cathedral.org.
