So after months of filming and around 5 years of planning from the first idea, Zig Zag's new reality documentary finally hit the screens this week on 5 Star and what an amazing start the show has had!    With viewing figures far exceeding expectations and newspaper and magazine feature coming out, its been a crazy few weeks!  

The Daily Mail did their own big feature on the show and put it on their Mail Online web page (the third largest read website in the world).  The feature was quite alarming to our world of dance portraying a rather unsavory world of pushy mums, high costs, and mothers shopping for dance partners from abroad!     The article was designed to create controversy and discussion and wow, it certainly did that alright with thousands of posts and messages coming in!  
However, all turned out fine and our worries were calmed when the show actually went out.  If you haven't seen it yet, it was a positive and lighthearted look at the competition world and our dance school and we have had over a thousand messages saying how brilliant you all thought the show was.   It showed the work and dedication but also the fun that the kids have doing our art that we all love so much.   Channel 5 are now also planning on running the show on their main channel, and it was reviewed on The Right Stuff this week.  There are also a couple of other major TV shows due to review the programme.  

We are hoping to be given a slot on 'This Morning' this week with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to promote the show so look out on the facebook pages if that happens as we will post it there.  Dont forget, if you missed it....its on again this Wednesday at 8.00pm.  

Episode 2 is this Thursday which will feature Andrei and Mia going to Romania, romance with Alicia and Kirill, and our new beginners couple Jack and Emily as well as Warren and Jane with their funny antics in the school.

Swing originated from the Jitterbug in the 1940's and is now one of the most popular dance styles in America.  This easy to learn and fun dance is based around the East Coast Swing and is in the Jive family of dances.

Medal Presentation 
(please note... the Saturday morning regular Childrens classes will be run at Wombourne Civic this week for one week only) 

This Saturday May 6th at Wombourne Civic Centre. 
Time table for the day: 
10.15am Children's starters formation.
11.00am Children's general Ballroom & Latin dance class.
11.45am till 1.15pm.  Formation for Juveniles and Juniors
Competitions and Medal presentation will run from 1.30pm to 5.00pm.  
George will run his Tea Bar as usual for drinks. 
Nothing will be held at Smestow school for this week only...back to Smestow from next week.

Brand New 'Swing' Beginners Dance Class 
starts Monday May 8th

For the first time ever, we are starting  a brand new Swing class at St. Mary's Church Hall at Oldswinford near to Stourbridge.    Swing originated from the Jitterbug in the 1940's and is now one of the most popular dance styles in America.  This easy to learn and fun dance is based around the East Coast Swing and is the Jive family of dances. 

our new 6 week course starts Monday 8th May at 8.00pm - just £5.50 per person.    

   Its bound to be really popular as everyone loves this dance with its infectious, toe tapping music so we are really excited to show you our new and totally different routine.   

Learn  to 'Swing' for Summer 2017  ..it will stay with you for the rest of your life.  Hope to see you all there. 
Dancing really does bring people together!  

Formation Team News

We will be starting our new term of formation for the coming season commencing Saturday June 3rd with auditions for our new Joseph team.  We have a fantastic routine and music ready to launch this new team.  We will also be continuing with a New Disney Magic Team and our Galactic Revolution Junior team. If you are interested in joining or coming along to look, please come along on the day or message us for more info. 


Here are a few photos of our Disney Magic and our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  Juvenile teams competing at Blackpool recently.  Both teams have done so well and improved enormously and made a fantastic impression at Blackpool at the British Open Championships.
