Master Builders Association of Pierce County partners with our member and community partner United Way of Pierce County to assist local students with snacks this summer.

In Pierce County, over 18% of students are food insecure meaning they do not have access to sufficient food to meet their basic needs. These kids during the school year, have access to free or reduced lunches to give them at least one full meal a day. Once summer hits, their main access to food is cut off.

Master Builders Pierce is hosting a Snack Pack Drive to fill at least 100 packs for local students facing food insecurity. Bring items for the Snack Pack Drive before June 9th.

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) put our their 2023 Priced Out Estimates, showing how higher home prices and interest rates affect people’s abilities to own a home.

In the Tacoma-Lakewood Metro Area, the median price of a new home is $805,128, meaning you will need a minimum income of $238,470 to even qualify. At this price, over 97 percent of households in Pierce County are already priced out of the market. And for any additional $1,000 added in fees or regulations, another 245 people will no longer qualify for a house.
