Summer '25 may be nearing its end, but recruiting for the next two years (yes, we're talking '26 AND '27!) is already in full swing for many industries. In the next 2 issues of The Weekly, we'll share recruiting tips for Finance and Accounting.

If Consulting is your chosen path - this is the time to lock in. While some deadlines have just snuck past - don't panic! - there are still many opportunities ahead for both internships and full-time roles.

Here are CCD's top 5 recruiting tips for the highly competitive industry:

  1. Do your research. Talk to Babson alums. Narrow down your top firms by industry, practice area, culture, size, and location. MBBBig 4Boutique? Look beyond Boston and NY for less barrier to entry.
  2. Track application deadlines. Some have secondary dates and others won't open until early Fall. Apply AS SOON as you're ready, DO NOT wait for the deadline. Here is a helpful resource to get started.
  3. Case prep like it's your job. Do NOT rely on AI. On average, successful candidates must do AT LEAST 20+ mock interviews to land an offerMake an appointment today to practice with one of CCD's trained Career Advisers. Attend Case Interviewing Across Industries on July 22nd, and scroll for helpful resources and a blog post on case interviewing.
  4. Tailor your resume. Start with Vmock. Review with an adviser. Make it for each role, but still make it YOU.
  5. Attend the Consulting Industry Recruiting Event on September 12th.

Take a deep breath. Make that plan. You've got this.

Career Insights for Inspiration

Wesley B., a consulting coach, shares in his blog “What Disneyland Churros Taught Me About Market Sizing” how estimating churro sales while waiting in line helped him master case interview skills—and ultimately land a role at Bain. This summer, whether you’re traveling, working, or relaxing, take a page from Wesley’s book. Try turning everyday moments into quick mental exercises: How many iced coffees does your favorite café sell each day? How many towels are rented at the beach? It’s a fun, low-key way to build your consulting mindset—no spreadsheet required.

Resources to Elevate Your Career

Speaking of case interviews—if Wesley’s “What Disneyland Churros Taught Me About Market Sizing” story got you thinking about how to tackle real business problems, don’t miss the Case Interviews module on Canvas. It walks you through the basics of what a case interview is, why firms use them, and how to approach different types like guesstimates, decision-making, and strategic solutions. With tips from expert Marc Cosentino and real examples, it’s a great resource to sharpen your problem-solving skills and practice the kind of structured thinking that can turn everyday observations (like churro sales!) into consulting-ready insights.
