Discover Tiverton, RI

Not ready just yet for summer to end? Head south! Tiverton, RI Four Corners Historic District encompasses the picturesque main village center and consists of sixteen historic buildings, as well as the 1868 Union Public Library, and Mill Pond.

Why we like it - depending on the weather you can choose to explore Fort Barton and take in the panoramic view of Narragansett Bay or just sit in the sea air and watch the windsurfers at Fogland Beach. But if hiking isn't in your plans - shops offering antiques, fine art, decorative crafts, gourmet treats and more will be easily accessable.

Everyone will have their favorite place to stop and take a break. For coffee it's Groundswell. Just make sure to leave plenty of time to explore beyond the cafe. Browse an interesting mix of vintage and new merchandise will be more relaxing than you think.

For ice cream, most definitely Gray's. And for dinner before the long drive home, we like Black Goose Cafe (open until 8pm). It's just hard to choose between the Sakonnet and Nanaquaket panini.

Cider Glazed Chicken Thighs

These apple cider glazed chicken thighs are full of spiced, warming flavors, making this recipe a perfect fall dinner.

Ingredients:

1 large sweet potato, peeled, cubed

2 apples, thinly sliced

1 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh rosemary, plus 3 sprigs

Kosher salt & Freshly ground black pepper

2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided

6 (5- to 6-oz.) bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

2/3 cup apple cider

2 Tbsp. honey

1 Tbsp. grainy mustard

1 Tbsp. unsalted butter

DIRECTIONS

Arrange a rack in center of oven; preheat to 425°. In a medium bowl, toss potatoes, apples, and chopped rosemary; season with salt and pepper. Drizzle with 1 Tbsp. oil and toss until combined. In a large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat, heat remaining 1 Tbsp. oil. Cook chicken skin side down until golden, about 8 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate. In same skillet over medium heat, bring apple cider, honey, and mustard to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture is slightly reduced, about 5 minutes. Whisk in butter. Return chicken to skillet, skin side up, and scatter potato mixture and rosemary sprigs around chicken. Transfer to oven and bake until potatoes are tender and chicken is cooked through, about 20 minutes. (If potatoes need longer to cook, transfer chicken to a cutting board to rest and continue to bake until tender.) Serve chicken and potatoes with pan drippings.
