Halloween Costumes
Since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, the day to wear costumes to school is Friday, October 30. Halloween is a fun event each fall and we want it to be a safe and inclusive one as well. Here are the guidelines for costumes:
- Costumes must adhere to the AUHSD Student Dress Codes Policy.
- For safety reasons, masks or makeup should not cover the student’s face in a manner that makes the student unrecognizable.
- Toy or fake guns, and other fake weapons are not allowed.
- Costumes that are overly graphic, promote violence, or otherwise might logically be assumed to be offensive to others are not acceptable. Cultures and Religions are not a costume.
- Costumes should not include items with sound effects, lights, odors, or other components which would disrupt the classroom learning environment.
Fall Play
The Drama Department will perform Murder on the Orient Express each night through Sunday of this week. The performance starts each night at 7:00 p.m. Come out and support local high school theater!
BSU Summit Monday
We are pleased to continue the tradition of having a Black Student Union summit again this year. The BSU Summit is Monday, October 19 at the Del Valle Education Center and will focus on empowering our students and ensuring that we provide an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging. I will be part of a parent panel/ listening session that morning and I am really looking forward to an open dialogue. It should be a great day!
Winter Sports Start November 2
We held the winter sports parent information meeting Tuesday night in the cafeteria and had a strong showing of parents. Winter sports officially start practicing on November 2. Please check the website at gomats.org for more information about specific teams.

Happy Friday Miramonte!
What a great Parents’ Club meeting this morning! Here is a link to our PC updates. Thank you to Dr. Walker for sharing the latest Challenge Success data with us, and to all the parents who joined the conversation. It was incredibly informative to take a closer look at the data and, more importantly, reassuring to see how intentional and thoughtful our school and district are in assessing and responding to the needs of our students.
As I mentioned during the meeting, we would love to continue these conversations! If there are topics you’d like to explore more deeply as a parent community, or ideas for future Parents’ Club meetings or parent education opportunities, please reach out. We are here to support our students and families, and your input helps us make these gatherings as meaningful and valuable as possible.
On a fun note, I’m so excited to see Murder on the Orient Express tomorrow night! I’ve already heard wonderful things about the production, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting our incredibly talented theater and stagecraft students. So much time, creativity, and hard work go into bringing these performances to life, and it means so much to have our community show up for them!
And finally, GO MATS! There is so much to celebrate in Miramonte athletics right now! From cross country, golf, tennis, water polo, flag football, volleyball, and United Sports soccer to our football team taking the field tonight, our student-athletes are giving it their all. I love seeing the dedication, teamwork, and school spirit across so many sports, and it's especially exciting to see our students, families, and community filling the sidelines and stands to cheer them on. These kids work so hard, and that support really does make a difference!
Let's keep showing up for one another, celebrating our students, and making the most of all the wonderful things happening at Miramonte.
Stay up to date with all Parents' Club activities by visiting our website. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Christina Linezo
Chair MHS Parents' Club

DVC Kick Start Program
Diablo Valley College’s Welcome & Connect Services is offering an additional enrollment support opportunity for seniors who are considering DVC after high School. The DVC Kick Start Program is a series of zoom sessions where they work directly with students to help them complete each step of their enrollment process. The series of Zoom session will include:
- Informational Webinar, Tuesday, October 27
-
An overview of the Kick Start Program, the enrollment process, and the benefits of participating. It is open to graduating seniors and parents/supporters.
-
Application Workshops Dates and times will be posted as the program progresses Step-by-step guidance with completing the DVC application.
-
Enrollment Workshops Dates and times will be posted as the program progresses. Step-by-step guidance with completing orientation, English/ESL/Match placements, submitting the Special Admit Form, and enrolling in COUNS 095NC for academic advising.
Note: Students with IEPs/504s are welcome to participate in Kick Start; however, students planning to utilize DVC’s Disability Support Services (DSS) have a different enrollment process. Kick Start workshops will focus on the general DVC enrollment process and not the DSS enrollment process.

A huge thank you to all of our families and staff for your support during
Anti-Bullying /No Hate Week! We had a wonderful week filled with meaningful activities that encouraged kindness, respect, acceptance, and inclusion across our campus.
Our students participated in activities designed to promote positive relationships,
celebrate differences, and help ensure that everyone feels safe, welcomed, and valued at school. We are so proud of our students for embracing the message that kindness matters and that we all play an important role in creating a positive school community.
Thank you for partnering with us to reinforce these important values at home and at
school. Together, we can continue to build a campus where every student feels they belong!
