Match Madness 2025 Update #1

Hello Max,

The annual Match Madness campaign conducted by Partnership for Better Health has finished its first week, and we are so grateful to those of you who have given already.

At the Charles Bruce Foundation, we are constantly presented with opportunities to make your donations matter in our world. We'd love to share a story about some of the fun we've been having outside the Match Madness campaign—work we can do BECAUSE of your support!

Our recent release, Humble Pie—a book on food insecurity—was met with great online success. We've sold nearly a thousand copies, allowing us to donate a large portion of the proceeds to Carlisle's Farmers on the Square. (All proceeds from the book help others, and we've also purchased groceries for families in central PA.)

Right now, we've partnered with Farmers on the Square to support their Fresh Match program. This initiative matches SNAP and/or WIC EBT benefits up to $20 per week per recipient and FMNP/SFMNP benefits up to $30 per week.

If you've seen Humble Pie, you know that it shares stories of how economically disadvantaged individuals have managed to feed themselves over the years. It’s also chock-full of great recipes—recipes that can be made with fresh, local ingredients that offer higher nutritional value for families. Furthermore, if you haven't already purchased your copy of Humble Pie, you can receive a complimentary copy by making a donation to Fresh Match during farmers market hours any Wednesday.

This is just another example of how supporting writers, artists, and musicians is essential to community-building.

We are deeply thankful to each of you who have given or plan to give through the Match Madness campaign this year. We also appreciate any efforts you can make to share this request for support with those who care about the arts, social justice, and the artisans who create both.
