This week we're presenting The Brush Art Gallery and Studios, Boston Sculptors Gallery and Bruce Museum.
For many of the artists featured in these three exhibitions, two dimensions just weren't enough. Three-dimensional work in ceramic, stoneware, multimedia and metal, along with a selection of two-dimensional paintings and photography explore the physical properties of the materials used to create and provide a unique way to interpret the world around us.

Beauty in Decay at The Brush Art Gallery and Studios
in Lowell, Massachusetts, through June 7
| | John Brickles, Frogger, Stoneware Clay. Image courtesy artist. | | The Brush Art Gallery and Studios presents Beauty in Decay, a group show that includes painter Angela Alés, sculptor John Brickels, photographer Jeff Caplan, painter Wendy James, and painter/sculptor Roneld Lores. While each artist works in a different medium and tackles varied subject matter, this show emphasizes, as the title suggests, the beauty that exists within decay. From wilted flowers, rusted out cars, moss-covered rocks and weathered barns, "the process of nature reclaiming what has been created is in itself beautiful," according to a curatorial statement. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. The Brush Art Gallery and Studios is located at 256 Market St, Lowell, MA. For more information, please visit here. | | |
Andy Zimmermann: Snulpture at Boston Sculptors Gallery
in Boston, Massachusetts through May 4
| | Andy Zimmermann, Battle with Infiltrators. Image courtesy of Boston Sculptors Gallery | | Boston Sculptors Gallery presents Andy Zimmermann: Snulpture, a show featuring a series of five sculptures made of welded steel and fabric with "integrated audio and kinetic electronics." According to the gallery, when visitors enter the gallery, sensors trigger the art's audio and kinetic elements, "creating a soundscape and bringing the work to life with vibrations and movement." The sculptural work of Andy Zimmermann is largely abstract, but through that abstraction he suggests complex themes such as warfare and conflict as well as nature and rebirth. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boston Sculptors Gallery is located at 486 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA . For more information, please visit here. | | |
Isamu Noguchi: Metal the Mirror at Bruce Museum
in Greenwich, Connecticut through November 16
| | Isamu Noguchi (American, 1904–1988), Cloud Mountain, 1982-83, Hot-dipped galvanized steel, 69 3/4" x 49 1/4" x 28 1/4". Art Bridges© 2025 The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum, New York Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York, Photography by Charles White/JWPictures | | Bruce Museum presents Isamu Noguchi: Metal the Mirror, featuring nine galvanized steel sculptures from renowned sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988). While mostly known for his work in stone, Noguchi also explored the properties of steel through his work. "Here is where finally opposites come together, I see a surprising purity," wrote Noguchi about his work. "Stone is the depth, metal the mirror. They do not conflict…" The show is organized thematically into several groups of work that highlight different "paradoxes" the artist explored with his work. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive Greenwich, CT.
