The latest PIC recordings and materials are now available to review. The luncheon included an educational and interactive conversation led by Allison Houston, the Indiana Department of Health's Prevention Programs Director, on the newest safe sleep practices and resources.
Allie Houston, IDOH Prevention Programs Director, has worked at the Indiana Department of Health for the past three years to lower the infant mortality rate through safe sleep education, data-driven prevention strategies, and locally led community action teams.

Allie shared new American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, Indiana Department of Health Resources, and other relevant safe sleep information, trends, and prevention strategies.
Erin Norton, R.N., B.S.N., MBA, Director of Community Outreach for Parkview Health’s Women’s and Children’s Services, has been a maternal child health nurse since 2000 and has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. She also coordinates the Allen County Fetal Infant Mortality Review.

Erin shared recent data and Allen County Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) recommendations related to maternal and fetal health and help demonstrate why safe sleep practices are important.
Stephanie Good, Dupont Hospital Birth Navigator and Childbirth Educator, has been a registered nurse for 32 years. She is the Birth Navigator and Childbirth Educator at Dupont Hospital, where she has been employed for 20 years. Stephanie coordinates the Safe Sleep and Car Seat education programs and classes at Dupont.

Stephanie shared insights from her experiences working in the field locally as well as her thoughts on Allen County trends and available resources.

Opportunity to share/learn about groups (peer support & therapeutic) that serve the perinatal population

What’s this about?
If you run a group that serves this population and want to get the word out or are interested in learning more about what groups are available, please plan to attend. The goals are to share information, promote efforts in the community, avoid future duplication, and potentially be aware of any gaps.

Healthier Moms and Babies Mobile Outreach Launch

At Healthier Moms and Babies, we care about being the right resource, for the right person, at the right time. This new initiative will allow us to deepen our impact in our community—meeting families where they are physically, to serve them mentally and emotionally. Through this initiative, we will provide families with baby supplies, such as diapers, as well as connections to programming opportunities.

Join us March 27 at 10 a.m. at The Garden, 3308 N. Anthony Blvd. There will be light refreshments. Please RSVP at mlyon@hmbindiana.org by March 25!

Maternal Mental Health Conference

In collaboration with the Allen County Drug and Alcohol Consortium and the Center for Integrated Public Health Education and Research at University of Saint Francis, Mission: Motherhood is proud to host the first regional Maternal Mental Health Conference in Fort Wayne, Indiana on World Maternal Mental Health Day, Wednesday May 3.

The Maternal Mental Health Conference will take place on the University of Saint Francis campus and is open for all local healthcare providers and organizations with programming specific to maternal health.
